“We warmly welcome Plaid Cymru’s proposal that all young apprentices receive their training through day release at a local college. An apprenticeship should involve both working and learning. Too often apprentices don’t receive the education they are entitled to.
“Apprentices have spoken year after year about the cost of public transport. The party’s proposal to introduce free public transport for young apprentices, generally those on the lowest wages, would make it easier for young apprentices to get to work.
“The way governments spend money on contracts has a direct impact on apprentices. We are glad to see Plaid Cymru’s commitment to the living wage for anyone working for the government, or on a contract paid for by government, extends to all workers, including apprentices.
“The party has listened to apprentices and proposed a set of policies that begin to make apprenticeships, and the lives of apprentices, better.”
