I am really excited to announce that the BCoT maths site has been recognised nationally in the EdTech50 2020 in the project category! I am so proud of the site and all of the students who have supported the site and a big thank you to Ty and the team for including the resit website in the EdTech 50.
The BCoT maths site is a project I started working on in early 2017. The idea behind it was to bring all of the resources around the web and home them in one place for our students. I was sitting my exam that year, and I understood how difficult it was to find decent resources. We also wanted to add our own resources created by the maths team, and in 2018, we added in the Functional Skills page which featured all of the lessons from Functional Skills maths so students could catch-up and revise. In late 2019, early 2020, I started working on video tutorials with another maths teacher, and we started creating content specifically for the site.
What is important about the site is that it has always been run and designed by resit students. I started the site, finding resources from around the web to add to it – these linked out to the site as the site was never made to replace the sites and their resources – and I began bringing other resit students in to support with the design process and finding more resources (as there are a lot!).
The site is used by students across the UK and the statistics show that the website is accessed at least a few times a day. I am so excited about how far it has come and I can’t wait to see how far it will go.
